SINGLES KNOCKOUT - RULES AND INFORMATION

  • The Singles Knockout Competition is a match play comp.
  • All matches are to be played off the tees of the day, preferably white tees if the course allows it.
  • Draws for each round will take place after the monthly Order of Merit meetings, see further down for more details. Round 1 is to be played by the end of April, Round 2 by the end of May, Round 3 (last 16) by the of June, Quarter Finals by the of July, Semi Finals by the end of August and the Final by the end of September.
  • The player drawn as 'home' has the advantage of choosing the course, but must agree a suitable date/time with their opponent.
  • The 'home' player is responsible for organising the match and contacting their opponent. However, the 'away' player should also make contact if they haven’t heard from their opponent.
  • As the 'away' player may not be a member of the club where the match is taking place it is suggested that the guest green fee be shared. This is not compulsory but is seen as a good sporting gesture.
  • Ideally the match should be played on a separate date to the Society Order of Merit meetings. If a suitable date cannot be agreed the match can be played at a Society meeting if both are in agreement. However, you will be out last to prevent any hold up to the rest of the field.
  • Matches are to be organised outside of the Society's WhatsApp group. The winner of the match is responsible for reporting the result on the Society’s WhatsApp group.
  • Every effort should be made to arrange / play the match in good time. Extensions will be considered for unavoidable circumstances, such as illness, injury, holidays etc. However, if an extension has not been sought and the match has not arranged / played by the stipulated deadline then the Committee reserves the right to decide who goes through to the next round.

Handicap rules
  • Maximum handicap is 28.
  • Handicap allowance is 100% (as per England Golf guidelines).
  • Competitors must play off the lower of either their official CDH handicap or their Society handicap.
  • Handicaps are to be adjusted to the course handicap using the course slope rating.
  • No further adjustment to handicap as 100% allowance.
  • Work out the difference between playing handicaps.
  • This then becomes the number of shots the higher handicapped player will receive over the lowest handicapped player, who will be playing off scratch.
